Artist’s Statement:
Jane is an book artist, illustrator, and printmaker. She is interested in the relationship between nature, landscape and the human condition, as well as the haptic nature of books and printmaking.
She uses photographs, printmaking, rubber stamps and drawing to make her work, appropriate to the subject matter and form of output. The material and physical qualities of the surface and form of the work are integral to the reading or viewing of the work. She is interested in the development of narratives through artists books and the textural potential of combining printmaking processes and the surface qualities of papers.
Common themes in Janes work, other than the natural world include a sense of place, memory and the visual culture of the domestic.
