We are delighted to introduce our 2024 Artists in Residence, Alice Zakharenko and Roya Pourzadi-Gilham

A few words from Alice:

I’m excited to accept to the Artist in Residence post at Ochre Print Studio! I hope to further develop my investigation of the everyday repetitions: systems of transportation, routine walks, decorative adornments, natural patterns felt during transient moments. By investigating the patterns we see in our daily lives, I hope to uncover their connection to our identity and communicate a passage of time. Whilst in residence, I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the Ochre community to acquire new techniques and perspectives.

Initially, I learned how to intaglio print at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2022), but recently finished my MA in Print at the Royal College of Art (2023).

Thank you everyone at Ochre Studio for providing me such a wonderful opportunity and welcome! I sincerely look forward to making and meeting everyone.

And a few words from Roya:

I am excited to be Ochre’s Artist in Residence for 2024, I am returning to the studio after 8 years, after starting as a trainee. Ochre holds a special place in my artistic journey. I now feel it’s the right time for a full return, and I’m eager to fully embrace this opportunity.

I draw my inspiration from the beauty of life, finding it in the natural world, travels, literary works, and memories. With a background in Fine Art my mission is to learn, expand my skills, and experiment by blending digital art and traditional practice.

Engaging with the art community through collaborative projects and workshops is my key focus. I believe in the transformative power of shared creativity.

I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to meeting new faces and some old friends in Ochre’s vibrant community.

We very much look forward to having Alice and Roya in the studio this year and seeing how they develop their printmaking practices during their residencies!
