Non-Toxic Etching on Copper and Aluminium – An Introductory Weekend Course with Mai Osawa

Mai Osawa took the role of Ochre Print Studio Resident Intaglio Tutor a year ago and now oversees the Intaglio printmaking facilities and courses at the Studio.

This weekend course is suitable for beginners and those who would like an opportunity to learn the non-toxic processes we employ in our Etching Room using Ferric Chloride and Copper Sulphate with BIG (Baldwins Ink Ground) and a self-contained spray booth for applying Aquatint.

You will start with creating a hard ground needle line and then move onto the aquatint biting process to add the tones on both copper and aluminium plates. All basic materials provided with additional plates/paper available to purchase in the studio.
