An exciting and fresh approach to transferring your own images onto an etching plate.

This weekend course of looking at different approaches to etching, with not one but two experienced printmaking tutors, will explore ways of transferring images of your own artwork onto an etching plate using both Monotype and Paper Lithography transfer processes.

The Monotype transfer method will use BIG ground to develop an image that can be adjusted before being committing directly to an etching plate. The plate then needs to be baked to cure the BIG ground as usual and aquatint applied, prior to the etching process and printing the Plate.

The tutors will also demonstrate the Paper Lithography process, providing suitable black and white photocopies for you to work from, and discuss how to develop and select images suitable for transferring onto a photocopy for this transfer method onto an etching plate.
