Linocuts With Unique Backgrounds with Jane Stobart RE and Mustafa Sidki – Weekend 27/28 August – 10am to 4pm
August 27 @ 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM BST£220
This weekend course will introduce opportunities of creating rich backgrounds for a Linocut print. Each print will be unique and original, despite the fact that the Linocut will be the same each time.
The backgrounds can be created in many ways, such as collaged soft coloured tissue papers (cut into pieces, or torn) and glued onto paper. Newspaper advertisements can be used and also pages of printed texts.
Artist William Kentridge prints onto pages of a dictionary. Gentle coloured soft fabrics or sheet music could work well as backgrounds.
Artist Michael Rothenstein sometimes painted soft watercolour across his oil-based print, so the colours were rejected by the image and only appeared on the negative areas.
And there are many other ways of creating these unique backgrounds…
