Lino Etch with Steve Edwards – Weekend Course 6/7 July
July 6 @ 10:00 - 16:00 BST£140
A course for those who have some experience of linocutting.
If you are already a fan of the linocut then this course will give you the opportunity to add an exciting new dimension to your practice. Over two days, you will create an A4 print by combining two or three lino blocks with a mixture of cut marks and etched marks. This will involve learning how to etch lino with a caustic soda based solution. It will also demonstrate how to register multiple blocks so they print over each other. When considering what to create, think of an image which can naturally divide into strongly defined elements and background textural ones.
Dates: Weekend 6/7 July
Time: 10am to 4pm
Cost: £140 / Members £130
Steve Edwards is an artist printmaker who principally works with lino. In his practice he uses traditional linocut in combination with etched lino to create multi-layered prints. His subjects are mainly landscapes and cityscapes and the combination of the controlled cut marks and the less controllable etched ones informs the nature of the print and his practice in general. He was introduced to printmaking while studying for a BA in Textile Design at Camberwell College of Art. He is a member of East London Printmakers and was accepted into Greenwich Printmakers in 2011 and the Printmakers Council in 2013. He has taught at various printmaking workshops around the country. Steve has exhibited widely and has work in national and international collections.
