Over this weekend, Mai will take you through an exploration of the traditional drawing approach to etching using line and tone on copper plates.
You will learn how to prepare the plates and etch your lines in a less-toxic environment using Ferric Chloride with BIG (Baldwins Ink Ground) in our specially set up etching room.
Using the same plate, you will then explore the use of aquatint. This is a wonderful process that creates added tones from subtle greys to rich velvety black, making your prints mysteriously attractive when printed in black ink.
Mai’s weekend course is suitable for everyone, from those with no previous experience to anyone who wishes to learn about the less toxic processes we employ at Ochre Print Studio.
Numbers are strictly limited and all the basic materials are provided within the course price, with additional plates/paper available to purchase from the studio shop should you wish.
Date: Weekend 19/20 November
Times: 10am to 4pm
