A one-day master-class in wood engraving for those who already have some experience of the medium.
Anne Desmet will work individually and collectively with the group to develop each participant’s engraving. The course will comprise engraving exercises, set by the tutor, on practice blocks, in order to refine and improve each participant’s skills with a range of tools.
It will also involve engraving an image, either on a new small block or developing an engraving a participant is already working on, which could be continued during the day with the benefit of the tutor’s input. The course will also consider composition and scale of work in relation to engraving on small blocks, as well as drawing and photography as source material for engraving.
All materials, including tools, will be provided, though participants who have their own tools are encouraged to bring them for use on the day.

This course is not suitable for complete beginners but would suit those who have already attended at least one wood engraving class or who have been teaching themselves the technique.
