An introduction to image preparation using Photoshop to create high resolution halftone transparencies for screenprinting on paper
Tutor James Cockerill of HALTglass will explore different aspects including halftones, photorealistic printing, tonal separation, screen selection and block stencil making skills using the photo of your choice as a starting point.
On booking James will send you image selection advice and request your chosen image in advance.
You will be printing an edition of six images in three colours up to A4 in size. Just 4 students so plenty of 1-1 tuition. Absolute beginners welcome.
Day One
We will explore what is required to create highly detailed halftone images in Photoshop using the photo of your choice. We will also be creating stencils in Photoshop so we are able to make 3 colour image up to A4 in size
No need to subscribe to Photoshop to complete this course.
We end the day with choosing and mixing our colours for day two.
Day Two.
Using our transparencies from day one we will clean, coat and expose our screens using photosensitive emulsion.
Once prepared we will learn how to accurately register these images and print in three layers with our three colours.

James Cockerill is the founder of HALTglass, a Guildford based studio specialising in print on glass using traditional stained glass materials like hand-made English and German antique glass. James paints and silkscreens striking imagery onto glass, often in collaboration with other artists. He also designs light boxes for his panels to be displayed in.
