Exploring Screenprint Using Monoprint and Stencils with Adam Green – Weekend 12/13 December

Our final course of 2020, a weekend in the studio exploring the use of monoprint and stencils on silkscreens with artist Adam Green.

Monoprinting on a screen produces painterly images which cannot be replicated in any other way and the results are often interesting and pleasing. The image is painted directly onto the screen and, because you cannot completely control the ink and how the screen prints the image, there is always an element of surprise.

The use of stencils on a screen can be used to create bold blocks of colour or images with fine detail, depending on how good your craft knife cutting skills are and layers can be built up using the positive and negative stencils to create complex screenprints without the use of photographic chemicals in a darkroom.

The possibilities are endless and both techniques can be used to print on the kitchen table at home, using an easily constructed ‘jig’ to hold the screen – if you ask, we will provide you with instructions on how to make one!

Suitable for beginners and refreshers alike.

Places are limited to 5 to allow for social distancing. You will be asked to wear a mask and bring your own refreshments.

Adam recently completed an MA at Wimbledon College of Art. He is firstly and foremost a painter but as Ochre Print Studio Artist in Residence in 2016, he gained a good knowledge of different printmaking processes and began teaching screenprinting at the studio immediately after his residency.
