Following their highly successful courses over the past couple of years, artists Jane Stobart RE and Mustafa Sidki are returning to Ochre once again to share their extensive knowledge of relief printmaking.
This two-day course will focus upon relief printmaking processes using Ochre’s beautiful Columbian relief press. A choice of Environmount, wood or Lino will be available and various methods of inking will be explored, such as colour blends, mono-print inking and the unique affects that opaque and transparent inks can offer.
The idea behind this course is to mix processes, such as: making a mono-print to create the background, for a woodcut print. Techniques such as Chine collé (the addition of pre-coloured papers) and print collages, can make a simple image dynamic and exciting. ‘Reduction’ linocuts will be explained and can be pursued, along with various methods of registration.
With two tutors on hand, it will be an intensive weekend of preparing plates with the opportunity of sampling a variety of suitable papers and exploring different inking and printing methods along the way.
This course is open to all levels of experience including beginners and will suit anyone who is wishing to experiment with printmaking and would like to discover the many possibilities attainable. Come prepared with ideas, or if you prefer we could set a theme.
