Experimental Japanese Vinyl with Wuon-Gean Ho
30th June 2018 @ 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM BST£140
Japanese vinyl is a beautiful flexible printing substrate, similar to traditional linoleum, which can be carved and printed in a huge variety of ways. In this two day course you will experiment with new ways of carving, extend your repertoire of expressive mark making, and try out unusual inking and printing techniques, including intaglio and viscosity colour printing. Come prepared to be inspired by a wide range of print art, to experiment and have fun! This course is good for a complete beginner but could also work well as a refresher/ idea generator course for those with previous experience.
Wuon Gean has worked in various print workshops across Britain, Japan and the USA, and has held multiple residencies, including the Intaglio printmaker residency in London, and the Sitka Center for Arts and Ecology residency in the US. She works across media, mainly in a mix of Japanese vinyl cuts, screenprint, books and animation. She is the Chair of East London Printmakers, and writes the news for the magazine Printmaking Today.
Wuon-Gean Ho is also the designer for the Royal Mint Lunar calendar coin series from 2014-2028!
