This workshop is suitable for all levels of printmaking and life drawing skills.
On the first day, the model will adopt a number of dynamic poses. Working dynamically and expressively we will capture the model through tonal monoprints and indirect drawing techniques. We will then develop these images further into drypoint plates and mono and stencil screenprints. The emphasis is on confidently developing a number of quite different images from the same source material over the two days.
Sarah says: ‘Think Matisse cut-outs, Picasso abstracts, along with smoky tonality …. and be prepared to experiment and work freely!’
This workshop will offer an easily accessible introduction to printmaking techniques. Beginners to life drawing will be provided with guidance on how to capture the essence of the figure. There will be plenty of challenge for more experienced life drawing and printmaking students.
All basic materials are provided with the course. Optional: you are welcome to bring worked plates of your own to use for monoprinting the figure.
