This delicate, historical photographic technique is a beautifully sustainable way to make prints, relying entirely on the natural, photosensitive pigments found in everyday plants.

This workshop with artist Ana Solo offers an exploration into the beautiful and historic art of anthotype printing. Suitable for everyone, this hands-on session invites you to discover the magic of using plant-based pigments to create your own unique, delicate, and ephemeral prints.

You will learn:

– The fascinating history of the Anthotype process
– Choosing and processing plants and common spices for the light-sensitive emulsion
– Applying the emulsion to paper effectively
– Composition and exposure using leaves, hand-drawn stencils, and digital transparencies
– Inspiration, further reading, and an introduction to artists using this process

What to Bring:
We’d love for you to bring some favorite blooms, a mortar and pestle, and an old photo frame to print with. But don’t worry, we’ll send you a reminder a few days before the workshop.

Bonus Materials:
As a lovely bonus, you will receive a free digital copy of Ana’s book on plant-based anthotypes to help you continue your printmaking journey at home.
