This one-day course is a gentle and supportive introduction to linocut. You will be shown a variety of cutting tools and practice mark-making with them.

We will look at your pre-drawn designs (there will be time to create something simple on the day if necessary) and you will be shown how to transfer them to the plate. There will then be time given to cutting your design on the lino.

Finally, we’ll work on rolling out and applying ink to the lino and printing your image. Time permitting; we can experiment with different ways of printing.

At the end of the day, you will leave with a set of prints and a grounding in the basics of this great printmaking technique.
