If you are looking for an introduction to printmaking, linocut is a great place to start and this weekend course covers all the basic techniques of ‘relief’ printmaking.
To achieve the perfect linocut print, you will learn about the tools used, mark-making techniques, the best papers to use, be given guidance on inking up a lino blockĀ and shown how to use a printing press.
Artist David Crosby will lead you through each of the stages from preparing the lino before you start, to creating and cutting your design, registering your print and finally printing it in black and white.
David can also give advice on printing at home using a ‘baren’ or wooden spoon!
Once you have mastered these basics, David will take you through the process of creating and ‘registering’ a two-coloured print using two pieces of lino.

All the basic materials required are provided with the course, including being given your own boxed set of Japanese Linocut Tools to take home with you. Extra paper and lino of many different sizes are available to purchase from the studio shop if required.
While this course is aimed at beginners, refreshers are very welcome to join the class too.
