An Introduction to Cyanotype – Tutor Vanessa Gellett with Mona Craven – Sunday 19 July – 10am to 4pm

On this one-day cyanotype printing course, learn the basic process of cyanotype printing using Ochre Print Studio’s UV exposure unit and if weather permits, the sun. The course will mainly focus on using botanical and natural sources as your subject matter, though the use of photographic imagery and painterly mark making will also be explored.
You will learn how to prepare the cyanotype solution, select and coat paper, and compose your image prior to exposure. You will leave with the skills to pursue cyanotype printing on your own using the sun or in a studio setting using a UV light source. It will also be a stepping stone to exploring the process further through a a workshop on bleaching and toning.
You will leave with a set of cyanotype prints ready to display or use as you wish.
Suitable for all abilities and no prior printmaking experience necessary.
