During this weekend course, Vicky will demonstrate how she creates her imagery using simply constructed collagraph plates to dramatic effect and then you will have the opportunity to explore these processes under her guidance.
Collagraph is a printmaking technique based on collage. Prints are taken from plates constructed from textured materials assembled onto a base plate, unique prints rich in tone and texture can be taken from these plates. Vicky will introduce you to elements of drypoint to add linear elements to the collagraph plate. Drypoint is a method of producing a print by simply scoring the surface of the plate with a tool. The scored surface retains the ink when the plate is wiped after inking, and prints a soft line or texture depending on the tool used.
Vicky will help you to select appropriate materials for plate designs and introduce you to papers and other surfaces for printing. She will show you how to use an etching press to print your plates and give you pointers on what is considered ‘good studio practice’.
You will be encouraged to bring sketchbooks or some inspiration with you when you join the class.
Places are limited to 4 to allow for social distancing. You will be asked to wear a mask and bring your own refreshments.

“This course is great and Vicky is a very good tutor – giving us space to develop ideas. She is a mine of continuous tips and suggestions – my head hurts by the end of the day and I need a few quiet hours to process it all!! Definitely would recommend the course.” Susi Alcock
