An Introduction to Collagraph with Vicky Oldfield – Three Wednesdays 5/12/19 February 2020
5th February 2020 @ 10:00 - 15:00 GMT£160
Collagraph is a printmaking technique based on collage. Prints are taken from plates constructed from textured materials assembled onto a base plate, unique prints rich in tone and texture can be taken from these plates. Vicky will introduce you to elements of drypoint to add linear elements to the collagraph plate. Drypoint is a method of producing a print by simply scoring the surface of the plate with a tool. The scored surface retains the ink when the plate is wiped after inking, and prints a soft line or texture depending on the tool used.
Vicky will help you to select appropriate materials for plate designs and introduce you to papers and other surfaces for printing. She will show you how to use an etching press to print your plates and give you pointers on what is considered ‘good studio practice’.
You will be encouraged to bring sketchbooks or some inspiration with you when you join the class.
The size board we will be using will be 14cm x 14cm and you will be printing on 18cmx18cms paper, all of which will be cut and ready for use when you arrive in the studio.
