A Masterclass in Wood Engraving with Anne Desmet RA
20th October 2018 @ 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM BST£70
We very much look forward to welcoming Anne Desmet to Ochre Print Studio once again for a one day Masterclass where she will share her extensive knowledge and understanding of making prints using endgrain wood engraving blocks in Boxwood and Lemonwood and a teaspoon!
Anne followed her studies at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, University of Oxford and London’s Central School of Art and Design with a scholarship award at the British School at Rome in 1989. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and a Member of the Society of Wood Engravers.
Her work is made using traditional printmaking techniques and ranges from small scale, detailed examinations to sweeping, often fantastical, panoramas viewed from a bird’s eye perspective, depicting the evolution of the urban landscape through collage and print, looking at the aspirations and experiences of humanity, with a particular focus on Italy, London and the Babel Tower.
Anne Desmet lives and works in London and was elected a Member of London’s Royal Academy of Arts in May 2011. For 15 years she was editor of Printmaking Today magazine and is the author/editor of three printmaking books and her delightful sketchbook ‘An Italian Journey’ – we have signed copies in the studio!
Date: Saturday 20 October
Time: 10am to 4pm
Cost: £70 / Members £65
