Just Inking and Printing

This one-day workshop with celebrated artist/printmaker Ruth Barrett-Danes is designed to trouble shoot any problems you may have encountered with collagraph plates you have made but remain dissatisfied with the printing outcomes.

Areas for investigation could be

• Problems encountered
• The inking up process
• Wiping and cleaning back
• Adding surface colour
• Working à la poupée
• Any other suggestions!

This is an opportunity to bring your collagraph plates together with your prints to share results and to discuss problems encountered, so the session will focus on seeking remedies and ways of improving the final images.

Ruth Barrett-Danes is both a ceramist and printmaker and her prints reflect the development of a visual language that has been synthesised from her much celebrated work in ceramics. Ruth spent her early years in Devon exploring the sinister and brooding atmosphere around Dartmoor and later in the dramatic Welsh landscape of the Black Mountains. These intense landscapes encouraged her love of nature and the observation of all things wild and strange. Now living in Hampshire, the landscape there provides her with renewed challenges and responses. Ruth’s work is exhibited widely in the UK and abroad and she is represented by Kevis House Gallery in Petworth.
