Drypoint sketch proof
I am completely new to Ochre Print Studio and delighted to have been offered one of the AIR positions this year. Thank you to everybody for such a warm welcome.
I spent January familiarising myself with the impressive intaglio facilities and participated in Mai Osawa’s excellent drypoint course which she delivered with quiet confidence and impressive results from a full class.

Drypoint sketch using “William Blake” pigments with linseed oil
I also enjoyed the Michael Phillips, William Blake talk and workshop. Blake trained as an engraver and set up a press in his house to produce his own highly complex books of etched poetry and images. During the session, we printed from reproduction copper plates with the same pigments used by Blake. I hungrily scraped up the leftover inks at the end of the session and used them to print one of my drypoint plates.
