The Ochre Print Studio Annual Members’ Summer Exhibition closed its doors on Sunday after a very successful nine days with some 300 visitors through the doors and many sales of work!
The Opening Party on Saturday 1 June was so well attended that the front car park was FULL to overflowing and we had to open the rear gates to accommodate our visitor’s cars. The Ukeholics provided their traditional mix of upbeat music to get the party going in the Coffee Bean and their music spilt into the corridors hung with members’ work and over to the studio, where we ran the usual drop-in monoprint session, encouraging visitors to experience making their own print.
The monoprint session was led by the inimitable Ruth Barrett-Danes of course – a master at encouraging novices to ‘go for it’ and include vibrant colours, textures and stencils in their prints!
The exhibition opening marked the start of work by filmmaker Samuel Charlesworth who is filming a promotional video about the studio. Sam will be a regular visitor to Ochre over the coming months and we look forward to launching his film in September.
As ever, we are grateful to our sponsors: The Printmakers Council, Intaglio Printmaker and John Purcell Paper, who provide such generous prizes to the winning exhibitors each year. The Ochre Print Studio ‘Best in Show’ prizes are chosen by public vote; the exhibition visitors who are asked to place a star on their favourite piece of work – it encourages them take a good look at the exhibition!
